Siddur is built by Moshe Dancykier. This page explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the siddur, zmanim, calendar and compass work entirely on your iPhone. Only the minyan features send anything to a server.
No account, no tracking
Siddur has no sign-up, no ads and no analytics. It does not track you across apps or websites, and it does not sell or share your information.
Location
Siddur uses your location on your iPhone to work out zmanim, the direction to Jerusalem, and whether you are in Israel. That stays on your device.
When you use the minyan map — for example, you tap “I’m looking” or start a minyan — the app sends your approximate position and the tefillah to our server, so people nearby can see it. Posts about looking for a minyan expire on their own.
Minyan name and chat
To use the minyan features you choose a display name. It is shown next to your posts and chat messages. The app gives your device a random ID so your posts stay yours; it is not linked to your Apple ID, phone number or email.
Chat messages you send are stored on our server and shown to other people in that minyan or area. You can delete your own messages. You can report a message or block a person; reported messages are reviewed and may be removed.
Notifications
Zmanim, Shabbos and Omer reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. If you turn on minyan alerts, the app stores a push token with your random ID so the server can tell you when a minyan forms near you.
Tips
Tips are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.
Where it is stored
Minyan and chat data is stored with Supabase, our database provider. Prayer texts come from Sefaria and are bundled inside the app.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove everything stored on your iPhone. To delete the minyan and chat data linked to your device, email siddur@dancykier.com and we will remove it.
Children
Siddur is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
